Thursday, January 27, 2005The Swedish HousewifeSeattle Pa-Ooh-La and Ginger! The Swedish Housewife has many faces - one knockout body and kooky brain housing a host of personalities, including the Pa-Ooh-La and her alter ego Ginger!, "the toast of Paris." Both of these lascivious ladies perform neoclassical-style burlesque with; sight gags, humor, elaborate costumes, over-the-top props… they even sing! In key! Pa-Ooh-La's current showstopper, the inflammatory "Bells and Whistles," is every fireman's dream… and nightmare. "The Swedish Housewife delivers exactly what her name conjures up in one's mind: A blonde extravaganza of sexy entertainment, straight-out-of-the-oven, hot and delicious! This girl is so talented you could watch her with your eyes closed. Yep, she sings but you'll be watching every move she makes… and then some. Trust me." - The World Famous *BOB* Bicoastal bombshell The Swedish Housewife has been performing in burlesque and cabaret for over 20 years. She was one of John Sex's original burly girls, The Bodacious Ta-Ta's; portrayed Illusia in Joey Aria's epic rock soap opera, Mermaids on Heroin; and, starting in 1982, was the first girl-as-boy-as-girl go-go dancer at the Pyramid Club. A (grateful) survivor of the East Village '80s, she has gone on to produce, promote, and perform her own shows, and has been a featured guest entertainer around the globe, including appearances in Canada and Japan. She is the ringleader of the semi-annual revue, This IS Burlesque, which pairs some of Seattle's finest ecdysiasts with out-of-town headliners (The World Famous *BoB*, NYC's finest burlesque DJ Scott Ewalt), as well as her monthly cavalcade of stars, The Hubba Hubba Club. Now, like the proverbial phoenix, she returns, reborn in yet another incarnation, to set New York alight again. -New York Burlesque Festival 2004
